Several years ago neat loose spessartine crystals, some quite large, appeared on the mineral market. In my opinion these commanded very high prices considering the fact that they were not on matrix and were for the most part opaque. Recently good matrix specimens have appeared. This is one of them. A superb sharply formed, for this locality, orange opaque lustrous spessartine crystal measuring 4.0 x 2.5 x 2.3 cm in size is set aesthetically upon a 7.0 x 4.2 x 4.1 cm schist matrix. No damage and quite aesthetic. An oustanding matrix example for this new and important locality for the species.

Blocky crystals of microcline are mostly covered by gemmy orange-red sparkling transparent spessartine crystals to 0.3 cm. In great condition as seen and very pretty. Measures 8.0 x 8.0 x 3.5 cm and weighs 0.36 lbs. Ref: Mineralogical Record, 36 (1): 35-43.

Gorgeous and aesthetic combination piece with a grouping of gemmy lustrous glassy terminated smoky quartz crystals coming off a small matrix of white feldspar, this studded throughout with gemmy glassy orange-red crystals of spessartine to 0.3 cm. Micro-chipping near the quartz termination as seen; shows all around. Overall in very good condition. Size: 9.0 x 3.0 x 3.0 cm. Weighs 2.1 oz. Ref: Mineralogical Record, 36 (1): 35-43.

Very shapely and aesthetically arranged grouping of black lustrous well formed sphalerite crystals to 3.0 cm in size forming a 7.0 x 5.5 x 3.0 cm cluster. Sits up perfectly for display by itself. The crystals are slightly crude, typical of the locality, but show areas that are gemmy. Measures 6.5 x 5.0 x 3.0 cm in size. Overall in good condition as seen. Weighs 4.8 oz. Neat old-time specimen with sparkling black sphalerite crystals forming a terminated stalactite coming 6.0 cm in height off a matrix of crystallized black sphalerite. Very slight rubbing as seen; overall in very good condition. Neat shape to the piece; very three dimensional and better in person than as seen in the photos. Measures 8.5 x 8.0 x 6.0 cm. Minor quartz in association.

Large thick "ruby jack" red translucent crystals of lustrous sphalerite to 4.0 cm across scattered thickly over a 9.0 x 6.0 x 5.0 cm crystallized quartz matrix. Sits perfectly for display by itself. In great condition damage-wise; the bottom part of the main crystal, facing down, is not complete. This is not visible when displayed properly. Overall a fantastic red sphalerite specimen. A very fine large miniature/small cabinet piece consisting of a 7 x 6 x 5.3 cm white massive marble matrix, this hosting two red crystals or crystal groupings of spinel, the largest measuring 2 cm across. The larger crystal is quite complex and is mostly free-standing from the matrix. The crystals are lustrous and slightly translucent. Very fine and choice! Ref: The Mineralogical Record: 37: 225-238.
