An outstanding "faden quartz" specimen with tabular glassy transparent colorless crystals of quartz, these showing a pale white "faden" through the center, coming off matrix. Shows nicely all around and in excellent condition. Size: 7.5 x 5.5 x 4.5 cm. Ex Lloyd Tate collection.

Some of the finest amethyst specimens known have come from this area in north-central Guerrero. The specimen shown here is classic for the area, with beautiful prismatic lustrous crystals to 8.0 cm in length coming neatly off a common base. The crystals exhibit the classic deep purple color, grading to a colorless gemmy termination. Typical of most of these that I have seen, micro-chipping is present but very sparse on the terminations of the crystals, the extent of this visible in the photos. Overall, in my opinion, this is in super condition. Measures 9.0 x 9.0 x 4.0 cm in size overall. Shows all around nicely. A small amount of silicone is attached on the lower back side of the piece allowing it to sit perfectly for display, the silicone clearly out of view as seen in the main photo. The piece was at one time part of the noted Mexican suite of Ohio collector Dick Heck. Ref: The Mineralogical Record 35:6 pp29-37.

Beautiful royal purple glassy translucent crystals of amethyst to 1.5 cm in size covering nicely the top of a 7.0 x 5.0 x 5.0 cm matrix. Micro-chipping is present but very sparse; overall in excellent condition. Great color and luster making for a showy specimen. Weighs 0.36 lbs.

A highly aesthetic choice hand sized grouping of sparkling transparent prismatic terminated amethyst crystals, the largest and most prominent one measuring to 7.6 cm in length. There is no matrix - these all radiate from a common base. Shows nicely all around - completely free of damage and chipping. A very three dimensional piece, I think this better than as shown in the photographs. Measures 9.0 x 6.4 x 6.3 cm in size overall. Ex Lloyd Tate collection.
