D1020476) Dioptase with Wulfenite - Tsumeb Mine, Tsumeb, Otjikoto Region, Namibia Size: 7.6 x 6.0 x 4.9 cm (small cabinet) Price: $ 4800 (=~ £ 3088) ex. Dawn and Jim Minette
Beautiful highly lustrous deep emerald green slightly translucent crystals of dioptase to 1.6 cm in size are thickly coating the front side of a 7.6 x 6.0 x 4.9 cm calcite crystal coated matrix. At the base of the specimen there is a very small wulfenite crystal measuring 0.4 cm on edge. There are two areas with minor damage, one at the extreme lower right of the piece, the other on the lower left side. To see this, one has to look really closely at the specimen. These two areas are not readily noticeable upon first viewing the piece. Overall, based on the luster, color and size of the crystals, the quality of this piece is extremely high. I think it much better in person than as shown in the photos. Ex Dawn and Jim Minette collection #WW476. Ref: Gebhard, G. (1999): Tsumeb II. A Unique Mineral Locality.
