One of the world's most classic and famous mining districts for the mineral collector is Kongsberg in Norway. Noted for the world's best native silver specimens; every collector would love to own one. The thumbnail shown here is superb, featuring curled somewhat thick native silver wires coming from a common base. Complete all around 360 degrees and measures 23 x 17 x 24 mm in size overall; an outstanding thumbnail! Ex Dawn and Jim Minette collection #T0106 with data card noting that they obtained the specimen from Norm Dawson in 1966.

A superb miniature from this relatively new find! A brilliant slightly translucent striated bright orange spessartine crystal measuring 3.6 x 3.5 x 2.6 cm in size set on a small amount of schist matrix. Free-standing and free of damage; this is complete all around 360 degrees. The quality is excellent; this is a beautiful miniature specimen!

Several years ago neat loose spessartine crystals, some quite large, appeared on the mineral market. In my opinion these commanded very high prices considering the fact that they were not on matrix and were for the most part opaque. Recently good matrix specimens have appeared. This is one of them. A superb sharply formed, for this locality, orange opaque lustrous spessartine crystal measuring 4.0 x 2.5 x 2.3 cm in size is set aesthetically upon a 7.0 x 4.2 x 4.1 cm schist matrix. No damage and quite aesthetic. An oustanding matrix example for this new and important locality for the species.

A gem quality transparent glassy single terminated loose tanzanite crystal measuring 3.0 x 1.0 x 1.0 cm in size overall. Complete all around. The crystal is strongly trichroic and quite beautiful. Microscopic level chipping is present on two edges of the crystal, this not easily seen with the naked eye. The quality is very high.

An excellent beautiful purple to blue to reddish gem quality terminated glassy single terminated tanzanite crystal is set nicely with a minor amount of matrix. Shows nicely all around 360 degrees and is absolutely free of damage. Nice with matrix. The quality is outstanding! Size: 3.4 x 2.4 x 2.1 cm.

An absolutely superb 6.4 x 2.4 x 2.2 cm single terminated crystal, gemmy throughout, of tanzanite. Complete all around. Some light chipping is present on some edges as seen in the photos. The luster is outstanding - the crystal faces are like glass. The crystal exhibits very well the trichroism that makes this gemstone so popular and famous. The first two views show the crystal with back lighting, thus exhibiting the color change. If lit from the bottom, the interior of the crystal is red. The quality is simply outstanding. A beautiful flawless gem quality blue glassy single terminated tanzanite crystal measuring 5.4 x 1.9 x 1.5 cm in size overall. Very sharp and clean of damage; complete all around. A neat and unusual combination specimen for tanzanite! A partly gemmy blue to bluish-purple terminated tanzanite crystal measuring 3.2 x 1.8 x 0.7 cm in size is perched on the side of a crystallized white calcite matrix. Attached to the side, and coming off the back of the tanzanite crystal is a pale bluish-gray grouping of terminated prehnite crystals measuring 2.5 cm in size. No damage - this shows all around 360 degrees. Good tanzanite specimens in combination with other minerals such as this piece are not common. Ex Lloyd Tate collection.
