Outside of this, damage-free. This is of excellent quality for one of these old Virginia classics. Ex Lloyd Tate collection. Ref: The Mineralogical Record: 3,4: 173-179.

The rhodochrosite crystals are set on a matrix of crystallized sphalerite and are partially covered with a silicic fine grained coating. The specimen has been repaired in two areas, basically piecing it back together from three sections. The repair is only obvious when looking at the back of the matrix; the repair is not evident at all from the display side. Ex Dawn and Jim Minette collection. Personally collected by Jim and Dawn. This specimen was part of the 2002 special exhibit at the East Coast Gem and Mineral Show; the specimen comes with a label for this. Ref: The Mineralogical Record, 29(4), 115-122.
