Extremely lustrous and bright flattened "spinel-law" twinned galena crystals, the grouping measuring 6.5 cm across, is set upright and perfectly from a matrix of crystallized quartz and colorless glassy gemmy fluorites. Measures 9.5 x 8.0 x 5.5 cm in size overall; this shows all around 360 degrees. This is in exceptional condition damage-wise; as perfect as can reasonably be expected. Better I think than as shown in the photos; the galena faces are very reflective of light. For a twinned galena crystal, this is an outstanding specimen! Comes with a custom acrylic display base. Ref: The Mineralogical Record (2001): 32: 3; World of Stones 4/94. Ex Lloyd Tate collection.

Beautiful pinkish-red lustrous translucent rhombohedral crystals of rhodochrosite to 2.0 cm across are covering attractively an 8.5 x 5.6 x 2.5 cm matrix. With a 10x loupe I can find very minimal and tiny chipping on some crystal edges. To my naked eye this is damage-free. The luster and amount of translucency is excellent for the species! The color is outstanding. Overall of excellent quality - a beautiful small cabinet specimen from this closed and classic locality. Ex Lloyd Tate collection. A beautiful grouping of two purplish-red opaque lustrous liddicoatite/elbaite crystals measuring 8.8 x 6.7 x 6.0 cm in size. No matrix; the crystals exhibit the neat multiple terminations typical of this locality. Completely crystallized all around as seen in the photos. To my naked eye this is undamaged; with a 10x loupe I can find very minimal "rubbing" in one area. Not prominent, this does not bother me at all when viewing the specimen. The color and shape are wonderful. There have been several articles publishing the identification results of this material; one study in Germany showed the material to be liddicoatite, another in the U.S. suggests that most all of these are elbaite. Some could even be rossmanite. I believe that each sample would need to be analyzed individually to know for sure which is which. Regardless, these are beautiful tourmaline specimens. This is from the major one pocket find in 2005; only about 80 pieces were recovered, of which 45 were of good quality. Ref: The Mineralogical Record: 38(6): 453-457; Le Regne Mineral 76: 25-29.
