A colorful and showy small cabinet specimen from this locality in Utah! Bright blue crystalline botryoidal azurite is covering the inside of an open vug, which dominates the front of a %dimensions% matrix. There is coating of sparkling green micro crystalline malachite along the lower part of the vug, on top of the azurite. Sits nicely for display and is without damage. Choice for the locality!

The Pine Canyon deposit in New Mexico has been known for almost 20 years now as a producer of fine dark purple octahedral fluorite crystals. The example above is a very good one for the locality, with lustrous dark purple octahedral crystals to 18 mm in size mostly covering the front and sides of a 4.5 x 3.4 x 5.6 cm matrix. There is some pale greenish massive fluorite underlying some of the purple fluorite crystals. There are a lot of crystals present - I am sure that one or two shows some kind of tiny chipping. If that is so though, I cannot find it. The only damage that I see is on the edges of the matrix where the fluorite broke away from the wall rock in the mine. Overall this is in great shape and the crystals are quite large for the locality. The crystals are a little darker in person than as seen in the photos; the brightness in the photos is due to the daylight lamps that I use for photography. A beautiful specimen.
