Beautiful pinkish-red lustrous translucent rhombohedral crystals of rhodochrosite to 2.0 cm across are covering attractively an 8.5 x 5.6 x 2.5 cm matrix. With a 10x loupe I can find very minimal and tiny chipping on some crystal edges. To my naked eye this is damage-free. The luster and amount of translucency is excellent for the species! Beautiful translucent red scalenohedral crystals of rhodochrosite to 2.8 cm in height forming a 3.3 x 2.8 x 1.8 cm matrix-less cluster. Neat crystal form - the original crystals were deep cherry red. There is a secondary growth of ligher colored rhodochrosite crystals "capping" the first generation crystals. A 12.0 x 6.6 x 2.6 cm matrix, the top covered by pink semi-lustrous slightly translucent rhombohedral crystals of rhodochrosite to 2.4 cm in size. The rhodochrosite crystals are set on a matrix of crystallized sphalerite and are partially covered with a silicic fine grained coating. The specimen has been repaired in two areas, basically piecing it back together from three sections.
