A glassy transparent colorless mostly complete terminated quartz crystal is hosting a green translucent to partly transparent prismatic double terminated elbaite crystal measuring 11.5 cm in length. The elbaite crystal is repaired in several places, to be expected in something like this. Some chipping on the quartz crystal just below where the elbaite crystal is attached. The quartz is crystallized naturally all around. Measures 19.0 x 13.0 x 6.5 cm. The elbaite crystal is perfect. Gemmy pale purple to yellowish-purple cubic crystals of fluorite to 6.5 cm on edge neatly covering completely the front side of matrix. Micro-chipping is present but very sparse as seen. Beautiful green transparent lustrous twinned crystals of fluorite to 2.0 cm in size rich over the top of a 17.0 x 14.0 x 3.0 cm matrix. Two areas are present where a crystal, likely a damaged one, were removed completely. All of the crystals present are sharp and damage-free. Great color making for a beautiful large cabinet piece. Neat architectural large floater specimen of cubic purple slightly translucent fluorite crystals measuring 16.0 x 13.0 x 11.0 cm in size overall. Shows all around - a floater with no points of attachment. Chipping and cleaving is present on corners and edges as seen; still for such an old-time specimen I think this in very good condition. We had originally acquired this specimen in the 1990's from an old collection that was stored at a gold mine in Larder Lake, Ontario, Canada. According to records there the collection had been assembled in 1919 and 1920. At that time the piece was sold to Lloyd Tate. We reacquired the specimen in 2009 when we purchased Lloyd's collection. An oustanding showy large cabinet piece! A 30.0 x 27.0 x 11.5 cm slab of crystallized black sphalerite, the top mostly covered aesthetically by pale bluish-purple cubic fluorite crystals measuring to 5.5 cm in size. White bladed crystals of sparkling barite are scattered throughout. The condition of the specimen is excellent for something of this size, weight and number of fluorite crystals.
